⁕ Travel expenses may be included, if you are a distance away. What is reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese spiritual practice based in meditation. Rei (universal), Ki (lifeforce/ energy). Animals seem to be more aware of and understanding of energy.
What is reiki used for?
The goal of offering Reiki to animals, is to promote relaxation, stress-relief and a greater sense of wellbeing.
where does it take place?
Usually in the dog's own home environment as that is where he/she feels most comfortable, relaxed and safe. If that is not possible, then you can suggest another quiet venue you feel your dog relaxes in. Can be done indoors or outdoors.
will there be other dogs there?
No. Unless the dog has a companion who helps them to feel relaxed in their presence. Having said that, group Reiki sessions have been shown to work well in relaxing groups of dogs in stressful environments, such as rescue kennels.
what does a session look like?
The practitioner places their hands on, or just above the body, in a sequence of positions. Reiki can also be done at a distance. Sometimes you just share the space. Some practitioners perform distance Reiki where they are not in the presence of the dog at all. Unlike massage, there is no physical manipulation.
How long does a session take?
The dog will decide when the session is finished. However, your booking will be for an hour of my time.
how many sessions are needed?
Sessions are booked on an individual basis. We agree on additional sessions as needed.
Will reiki cure my dog of illness?
Reiki is not an alternative to conventional veterinary care; it is not a 'cure'. However, it is increasingly used as a complimentary practice in such cases. The Reiki practitioner does not heal, nor are they a source of energy. They are a channel for the energy.
